Ninetails. Assuming you don't have a psychic type in your team at the moment, Ninetails can learn Dark Pulse and if you leveled your Vulpix to 44 before it evolved it would know Extresensory, giving it a good Ghost/Dark Defence as well as it's fire type moves.
Both can learn learn Solarbeam so you would have a defense against Water/Ground/Rock.

By defense I meant counter attacking defence. Come across a Ghost pokemon, use dark pules or extrasensory, come across a water type, use solar beam. Way better than using extreme speed for everything you encounter that fire won't do well against.
