|
|
PS3:
My personal favorite exclusives, such as Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, and LBP.
Multiplatforms with multiplayer are usually better on 360.
Generally more fun when playing single player games.
360:
Wonderful multiplayer, and generally has the best FPS exclusives.
Exclusives other than FPSes aren't usually that good.
Generally more fun when playing multiplayer player games.
tl;dr PS3>360 w/o Live
360 w/ Live>PS3

My thoughts:
PS3
---------
Not much noise before 2009, overpriced at launch and lack of AAA launch titles caused it a huge setback and profit loss.
Exclusives tend to be higher quality (Due to superior power), but the different architecture tends to make ports below the 360/PC versions.
Community is full of elitist hipsters
Free online, but always P2P connections.
360
---------
Early launch + many launch titles caused a lot of purchases before the PS3 was even released.
Hardware failures caused a lot of issues up to '07, but at least they have some customer service to replace the consoles.
Exclusives tend to be alright, but many "exclusives" are also on PC.
Community is full of frat boys and 12 year olds
Pay an extra $8 on top of your ISP bill and get mostly P2P connections.
PC
--------
Largest library of games
Superior technology, but due to the console business being so popular the PC versions tend to be held back from their potential. Every once in a while you get a game like Crysis that blows everything out of the water though.
No charges for online, and you get dedicated server support.
Mods extend gameplay tenfold and are a staple of PC gaming.
FPS games tend to be more "hardcore" than their console variants, due to precision aiming and no "autoaim" as there is in the console versions.
There are also several genres which simply are *not* possible on consoles, such as MMOs and RTS games.
Backwards compatibility like a motherfucker on PC. Emulation increases that as well. Every console up to the PS2 (Excluding xbox) is able to be emulated on the PC.
Games tend to have a price of $49.99 as opposed to $59.99 on consoles.
Independent gaming is bigger on the PC due to ease of distribution (Free *or* charged).
You're not locked to a certain FPS as you are on consoles, so you can utilize your monitor's refresh rate as needed.
Higher resolutions than your standard 720p or 1080p are also a bonus.
Most console FPS games have a 16 player limit in online, whereas a PC can handle from 32 to 64 players.
Many people gripe about controls on PC, but also neglect that controllers can be used on PC (360, PS3, Wii, and any other third-party peripheral).
Another complaint I hear is about how they'd rather sit back on their couch and play on the TV instead of a monitor. These people often don't realize that a modern graphics card has VGA/HDMI out in them.
Another reason I chose PC as my platform was price. My PC was getting 6~7 years old, and could hardly run flash anymore. To get a new PC I would have had to spend a minimum $300 (for a shitty PC) + $300~$400 on a console. I figured it was more financially responsible to spend $600 on a mid-end gaming PC.
I also own a 360, which I haven't touched in 2 1/2 years, and probably won't until Alan Wake is released

Screw Xbox, and PS3. Until they join forces, they both can suck my balls.
(I do own a 360 tho)
Sony made their first system (Playstation) after Nintendo not giving them enough money for the work they were doing, yes that means they worked with nintendo.
Well now Microsoft, and Sony should join forces and completely rape nintendo and their gay Wii's. And make the most KICK ASS system ever made.
The X-Station.
