It's about David Blaine, who holds his breath professionally. It was fascinating, and after watching the video I decided that it would be pretty cool to do the same thing. Now, being a french hornist, I have an extended lung capacity and I already was very good at holding my breath. One of the easiest things that he talked about in the video was "purging". Purging is breathing in and out quickly, basically hyperventilating, for minutes on end. It essentially cleans your red blood cells of CO2 and allows them to take in much more oxygen in your next big breath.
Purging+some breath exercises+my natural awesomeness=?
I held my breath for 2 minutes and 51 seconds, decapitating my former record of 1 minute and 59 seconds. Now let's go for 17 minutes.
