Of a logo I'm making for a mate.
He does lighting for loads of local events.

First real project in illu, transparency is fucked atm, just need comments on it. Will probably end up using a different type of lamp.

Not saying it's bad, but simpler logos are more eye catching.

Take for example, Disney Pixar's logo.
It's simple text, with the I in Pixar as a lamp.

The lamp in this one is distracting and too complicated =0
Like the concept, but I just think that you could make it simpler.

Mmm, I'm working on this one atm, just can't get the transparency right, and the clipping mask in illu makes me rage.

You're trying too hard. Work up a bunch of simple things, then pick your favorite and work off of it then compare again.

The first one is a professional looking logo. Tell him you're better off working on that one and improving it.

I agree, keep working on the first one.
Also, make the lighting completely cover the MX.
