How do I cheat?

I downloaded the .swf off of the game's website, decompiled it and edited it so it would work in flash variable editor 1.8(otherwise i get a death message), and i checked all the values to make sure they arent changed so CE cant find them. They werent, so i try editing them with cheat engine and it cant find them. Does anyone know why this happens?
