I'm having a lot of trouble with my zune, that's little over two weeks old. When plugged in it will say something along the lines "USB malfunction". I have absolutely no idea how to fix this, and as long as this happens I can't do put any music on it, or charge it. I have tried restarting both my computer and the zune and neither change what happens, but now because I've tried for so long to get it to work the zune is too dead to even start up and give me time to charge it, so now not even an error message will appear when I plug it in. I really need some help please. x.x
p.s. I left the bill with my mom to hold so I wouldn't lose it, she wasn't very responsible and lost it herself so returning it won't be an option, and she will NOT buy me a new one. (and I paid for it myself. =(

It USB malfunction could mean three things, The cord is broken, the part the cord goes into on the zune is broken, or the PC's usb port is broken.
Try using a different USB port on the computer (ie the back of the pc and not the front) If that doesn't work try a different computer (If you can)
Also try using a different zune cord
Have you been able to charge it since you bought it? or has it always given that message?

It's not the PC I'm overly sure of that. And I've tried all 3 usb ports, none work and I've tried my mom's computer so I really don't think it's those.. Perhaps it si the cord, is that replaceable on it's own?
and I have charged it a few times since I've boughten, never before have I gotten the message.

Wait, is it a ZuneHD? 'cause those things are sexy.
Yeah, pretty much what Triiger said. If it won't even charge, that means it's not connected to your computer. So, you should probably try getting a new cord.

1. If you have another computer at your disposal, try it. You don't need to have Zune software installed for it to charge (of course).
2. Search for other posts like this and try what others say worked for them regarding this [sometimes?] temporary problem.

I was there, didn't help at all. Where can I get a new cord?

Inspiretech has very cheap Zune USB knockoff cables on Amazon here.
They work, I bought two when I thought I lost my original.
I would still recommend trying to plug into another computer if you can get to one.
