Wierd Ubuntu screen resolution

The screen resolution while running ubuntu, which I am currently running 9.04, is slightly off to the right. I set the screen resolution to the correct size, and still seems not to do the trick. Is there any way to... like reposition the screen?

Does the monitor you use have an Auto-Adjust button?
Install the proprietary graphics drivers.
