Yours are twice as high as mine
Mine are 38-41C (100-103F), but it's a laptop so maybe it's different...

above 60 is not good for it's health. Get a cooler if you care for your cpu.

No one can tell you an accurate answer without knowing what kind of processor you have.

| 70C is an accepted point for stability, but it does depend on the processor, as not all programs correctly display different lines.

70 degrees. That is warm. I doubt that is good for the cpu. The cooler the cpu gets the more stable it gets.

That's just where, from my experience, there seems to be a dropoff in stability with C2D models. It may not be beneficial, but it really depends on the processor...
At any rate, 82C is quite warm, but it may be a bit lower, depending. CoreTemp uses a tjmax of 100C, although I think it can be offset. Realtemp uses 95C, and Everest/SpeedFan/etc. may use others.

It makes sence.

If you have a laptop, blow out the dust.
82 is hot, but not really dangerous. The speed will probably start scaling back, then you'll trip the thermal warning before anything bad happens.

place laptops on smooth surfaces, not on carpet/cloth
my computer used to be at 74, bought some cheap high CFM fans and a controller w/ it, now it's 65-

you might also want to check the heatsink and reapply thermal paste if you have to.

My laptop turns itself off if it reaches a certain degree. And it is much bellow 82.

He just needs to know if it is abnormal or not, he isn't asking to get his computer performing as best as possible.

Is it a quad-core?
Quad-cores tend to get hotter than dual/singles.
The Q6600 that my friend has reaches about 82 on full load with an aftermarket heatsink/cooler (Zalman CNPS9700 NT).
