Hey, I'm making my computer "fresh" again by installing a copy of Windows Vista SP2 (x86 for 32-bit computers, I have 1 GB RAM). Here are the programs I've kept on my 8 GB USB to install once I get the new version of Vista:

* Google Chrome (http://www.techradar.com/news/internet/web/30-google-chrome-tips-tricks-and-shortcuts-462663)
* CCleaner
* Newest Version of Microsoft Office
* Music (including iDoser)
* Adobe Collection (Photoshop, Flash)
* Homework
* Camtasia Studio 6
* Easy Message (http://www.easymessage.net/download.html)
* Sothink SWF Decompiler
* Winrar PRO
* QuickTime PRO
* Real Player
* Avira AntiVir Premium
* Adobe Flash Player
* Orbit Downloader
* Foxit Reader
* MS Outlook
* Remove Shitty Programs with PCDecrapifier
* Nero
* Lastpass

Are there any other programs I should have (don't mind if they cost money)? Please note that I have have looked at Useful Software & Tools, though that really hasn't helped me much.

Would also like something that doesn't take a lot of RAM. That's why I'm going to use easy message (only like 23 KB or someshit) instead of Trillian Astra.

Better than Real Player Gold?

(Also, is Real Player better, VLC, or Windows Studio?)

VLC Player is only good for having internal codecs (if that's what you're looking for). For all-intensive purposes, external codecs are just as useful, if not more, and Media Player Classic is a much better-responding program for playback/functionality.

As for the rest of the list:
iDoser is bullshit, but I'm not going to say anything further.
You could try Pidgin instead of Easy Message, just a suggestion.
Realplayer is not a great media player, I would opt for Winamp or even WMP before putting up with Real's crap.
Quicktime only if you need it specifically.
Nero is bloated, but has its uses. See if you can't replace it for your purposes with a few good freeware apps.

There isn't really anything I can think of to add, maybe 7-zip.

K, will try Pidgin.

BTW, yeah I heard about iDoser. Good thing I got it for free. Anyway, I'm trashing that.

Probably going to get Media Player Classic then.

Need Quicktime specifically.

Hmm, what things could I replace for Nero? If it's too large a file, is there something smaller? Maybe like Power ISO/Magic ISO?

Also, what exactly is SUPER? Is it useful?

Nero does a lot of things, you'd need to list everything you do with it. PowerISO is a good program for mounting/burning/creating disk images and I like it over Alcohol 120%, although I don't have past experience using Magic ISO.
SUPER is a top freeware media converter, and Handbrake is another. Open-source, cross-platform, with better support and documentation.

K, going with Power ISO then. I don't use that many features in Nero.

Not going to download SUPER/Handbrake, cuz I don't really need it now.

BTW, thanks for pidgin. Much better than Easy Message and Trillian. Very Happy

Revo Uninstaller.
Uninstalls the selected program and all traces of it.

Better than control panel and then manually deleting the file?

Probably goes through the registry as well to delete all traces of programs, so as to not cause system slowdown over time. The Uninstaller in CCleaner under Tools might do this, but I can't really remember right now.

Well, on CCleaner there's a "Run Uninstaller" button. I think it doesn't remove all traces of the program.

Sad

CCleaner usually gets everything between the uninstaller and the registry cleanup function.

Not that it matters much, people underestimate the registry. You can have an absolutely enormously bloated registry with basically no impact.

Went to their website, very nice stuff.

Just like CCleaner but it does more, and it takes up less space on my hard drive.

Very Happy

Make sure you have or know where, or know what your proper drivers are for your integrated/own graphics card, sound, and any other add ons.
