Okay so this is pissing me off, I'm suppose to be getting this speed from my AT&T internet provider
Downstream Speed: Up to 3.0 Mbps
Upstream Speed: Up to 512 Kbps
But all I'm getting is
Download Speed: 2521 kbps (315.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 420 kbps (52.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
I'm not actually getting my full speed and when I download stuff, the highest it can get up to is about 310 kbps.
I try doing the TCP optimizer shit and stuffs, but it's not helping at all getting to my normal speed.
Wtf is wrong? |

Quite possibly there is nothing wrong on your end. The end speed of an internet connection relies on a few factors, depending on the service type. I might guess that you're a subscriber to ADSL, and your speed being a tad lower than what AT&T claims is easily attributable to local usage. The connection pumped out through the telephone lines is shared amongst the users of their service, so (especially during the day and times of peak usage) your internet connection will be slower. |

May I ask what's ADSL?
And that's fuckin lame then, why does it gotta be share like that?
EDIT: And btw, it also happens at night or whenever I'm downloading something, I will always get about 300 kbps max download speed |

ADSL is DSL with different download/upload rates (Asymmetric).
But you're right, and it basically comes down to location, population, and luck. |

Incase you didn't notice :
That download speed of 210 kbps is actually kiloBYTES per second. ISP's measure in kiloBITS, to make it seem like your end is faster. Times your downloadspeed in kilobytes by 8 to get kilobits, and you have your true speed.
And yours isnt that far off. |

Notice that they say "up to x mbps". You can never get a static download speed.
In sweden some isp's even tell the intervall instead of just saying a numeric value which has nothing to do with anything really. _________________
