|
|
A new gaming service coming out this winter using cloud-computing to stream AAA pc titles, your computer specs don't matter just your internet connection (they claim for seemless gameplay in HD, you need a 5mb connection, or 1.5mb for SD play)
What do you guys think?
I have some doubts, especially with ISP's capping bandwidth but if it all works out I'll definitely pick this up.

i get
http://www.speedtest.net/result/386699262.png
I can max out Crysis on everything but anti aliasing.
AMD 9850 Quad Core 2.5GHz (not oc yet)
4GB DDR2
9800GT overclocked 512MB
if i had faster harddrive it would go faster but mines old. i want solid state.
technically you could do it, but i wouldnt do it. You would need fast internet, like mine, not many people have. I get 1.2MB download speed at filefront, highest download speed ive ever gotten was 2MB. You would need 3MB for SD??

1.5mbps internet speed is different from 1.5mb/s download speed

With my connection, I could easily run this as well.
Then again, with my computer I could do the same.

Well obviously it's aimed towards people who don't have high-end gaming rigs (which includes me at the moment).

1.5Mbps connection, and for high-def, 5Mbps
Am i right assuming thats 187kb/s and 625kb/s?
If so thats pretty reasonable, but my internet gets capped from 1200kb/s to 333kb/s (after 1gb/10minutesofdownload) which would completely ruin it.
But anyway i can run most games -> aside crysis and bad ports pretty well anyway over 720p

This will fail for one reason alone
Latency.
How awesome do you expect games to play when there is input lag proportionate to your ping (if not more)?
50ms lag does not sound fun to me.

You beat me to it. It would never even be playable with our current infrastructure.
Not to mention, I doubt most people would have the bandwidth to send 1920x1200 60Hz over their connection, unless it was compressed like no other.

PLUS ... If this gets too popular, microsoft and sony will pay huge amounts of money to keep games console exclusive.

I hope they remove the cap, so people with a faster connection actully can play the game smoother and gain proooofit! You will basically play the games on their system while it being streamed over to your screen. More like this
control>console>database>console>tv>repeat...
Could be possible, i've seen files being shared in over 300gig/s, although HQ to HQ and never to a household. Wouldn't put any hope into this machine. But it will be fun to see if they can compete with the world-class companies.

Why is this topic still going on? This is one of the most obvious scams I've seen in a long time. Not only is it technologically not possible, common sense says it's not real either.
