Amazingly, I have the book "Homer: The Iliad & The Odyssey" (I got it for christmass... though it costs 165$ and its huge.) But, what I'm trying to say is I've read it and can answer your questions.

well im going to ask a specific question...
How does demodocus' song of the hephaestus relate to odysseus' situation at the contests with the you men? What is the moral of hepaestus' story?
btw this is book 8, when he goes to the banquet.
if you know it that would help alot!

Huh... do you mean how demodocu's song relates to how Odys problem of being trifed by the gods, by men being at hes home when he's away( which relates by the Aries follower and he's wife?)
Edit: Or is it specific of why Ody's cries during the songs? of troy where he's allie Achi die's?
And, it's been awile so I'll try to remember what the songs moral is.
Edit2: The moral is adultery is shamed even by the gods. It was a moral lesson back in those days. Adultery=Bad

Yes its about ody's crying during the songs, and thanks for the moral lesson, although,
how does the song relate to him playing the games with the one guy he competes with?

It relates by since the song is closely by about troy. and ody and achi were at times competing with eachother. If I remember right = why ody cries cause he misses achi.

Well do you remember he started crying so they where like...Lets go play some games! so some guy challenged odyseus? so its not between ody and chi
