Hello.

I've done some extensive gamehacking in the past with lots of different tools and games. In some cases I've had a small problem that has always been there, but I never bothered to find a solution until now. Most of the time I use ollydbg to poke through game memory, halt the execution (manually or breakpoint), and alt+tab out of the game to check it out. But I've had this annoying problem in a number of cases where the game runs in full screen mode and refuses to alt+tab out properly.

Trying to alt-tab out of it after a breakpoint has been hit resulsts in the last rendered frame being displayed on the screen and a clearly visible WinXP taskbar with running processes appears on the bottom. I can interact with the taskbar and the start menu seems to work too, but trying to bring up any of the running windows (either by clicking them in taskbar or through alt-tabbing) doesn't work. It seems like the main game window that runs in full screen mode is blocking the view as it's staying on-top of all the other windows and refuses to minimize.

I can't find a way to temporarily remove this obstruction window to access the gamehacking tools underneath. I don't want to remove the window by terminating the running game, I'd just like to minimize this window and return to normal desktop.

Any ideas?

there is 2 solution available to fix this:
1.in olly press Alt-F5 so olly always will be on top except game and when you place break point and if reaches execution point in the game olly will break and automatically will bring itself on top of the screen so there is no need Alt-tab out thing.
2.run game in windowed mode.there is many tools available on the net which makes this really easy.in some games you can do it without any tools by pressing alt-enter or look into graphics and display options or simple command line along with game shortcut

Thanks for the tip, I never knew about the Alt-F5 trick. Sometimes I also run cheat engine along with olly and I'd like to access it as well.

Trust me, when a game supports windowed mode, I use it. The problem is that some games will only run in full screen and alt-tabbing or alt-entering won't work. From what I understand, you said there are tools available that can make the game run in windowed mode or minimize the annoying window... could you name a few?
