rub your feet on the carpet or a balloon on your head

rub a panty hose and pvc pipe together

Rub a balloon on your hair. The word "static" in the phrase "static electricity" means that the charge is not moving. When you rub a balloon on your hair (or do similar things) you scrape some electrons off of some molecules created a net positive charge.

Tear paper into small pieces and put them on your desk. Rub the flat side of a pencil in your hair. Place the pencil above and near the pieces of paper. The paper will stick to your pencil. That is static electricity which you put into the pencil when you rubbed it in your hair.

Simple ways could be to rub a balloon against a piece of clothing, or a piece of wool on a pvc pipe, or simply wear plastic soled shoes and shuffle across a carpet (can be discharged by touching the bare skin of someone else) .
