| There's no way to tell how many keys are in a keygen. Why does it even matter? Why do you care?

why you think its an application and not a list?
it gots no keys, just the system to make them

Pretty much so.
A keygen usually GENERATES a serial key for a program.
I do not know how they get their hands on the algorithms
required to generate the keys.. Always wondered..

| Windows for example needs a 25 digit/letter product key where each slot could have the letters A-Z and 0-9. You can imagine the amount of key combinations it can create.

They look at how the program validates the key and reverse the algorithm.

Depends on the coder, and whether they are lazy or not..
Some have 10 some have 1000

Or when thats to hard, they compare "some" keys, from lists captured by any "hacking" programs (wc3 e.g: Maphack, LC,...)
like getting the key for a encryption..
Also list would be few MB big (for Wc3 and other big games probably more)
