There is the athestic satanism where they see him as a symbol of power and atagonism but atheism in and of itself takes many manifestations however it simply means that the individual believes distinctly that there are no gods or supernatural/celestial deities. That is all.

Could said god create a rock so large that it would be IMPOSSIBLE for him to lift it. When something is impossible, it may never happen for there are no possibilites. Its an absolute. The ability for a god to make themselves more powerful is a posibility. With that simple change of words, awnser the question. |

I agree that I dont beleive in everything the church does. Although, I am Catholic. Seriously, God is absolute, he is everywhere,and anywhere. If God were to create a rock that big, It would be bigger than the Universe itself. Therefore, no rock could be made, therefore not lifted. Thats the answer to the "Paradox".

You see the paradox cannot be awnsered for its a paradox, to awnser a paradox is paradoxal. This mental exercise is three fold, and you awnsered only one.
If god cannot create the rock, he is not omnipotent, regaurdless of circumstance.
If god can create the rock, but cannot lift it, he is not omnipotent, again regaurdless of circumstance
If he can create the rock AND lift it, he did not create a rock that he couldn't lift and is therefore, once again, not omnipotent.
To be fair, I'll allow certain lapses of logic to exist and ignore the use of paradox in metaphysical debate. However you failed to deliver on an awnser. |

Actually the OP is right, the Necronomicon is actually part of the Cthulu Mythos and is a work of fiction. It is however in the stories more then a necromatic tome. Its also mentioned in the Evil Dead series.
You can't be a catholic and hate god, that's fundamentally polar to your belief structure. If you had said "I was a catholic and now I hate god, and I worship satan" it would be understandable. People who "Summon demons" generally go for the lesser demons listed in the old testament and torah. For example the stories of Baal-Peor, the demon belphegor is worshipped as a Moabitish god, so today people pay him tribute and hope that he inspires them for greatness. They don't actually expect Belphegor himself to appear in some sort of scribble on the ground, that would be such a vulgar abuse of power. People these days need to crack open a fucking book. |
