Besides uninstalling, please list some tips that can keep my RAM usage to a minimum, I only have 1gb. And on the side, does my computer being a laptop effect its performance.

Windows XP or Vista?
You could cut down on the services that are running if you haven't already.

Yeah, I just saw that. D:
You could change how services are handled, or do things like not use Sidebar or Aero.
Only thing I can think of besides those would be disable superfetch, or use a browser like Opera.

Windows Vista Uses Super-fetch so naturally it uses more RAM.

Windows Vista is supposed to use all your RAM.

Unlike previous versions of Windows, Vista will naturally use free memory. Unused memory is wasted memory, which isn't something you want. Then, when you want to load a program, Vista will allocate some of the memory to that program.

It's a nice feature, I don't know why you'd want Vista to use less RAM. Using less memory would make it run slower.

Disabling Aero will save you a good ~200MB.

Last I had Aero running (last year, I think?) the DWM took only 60MB of RAM out of my 4GB so maaaybe getting used to disabling stupid services (e.g. "windows image acquisition") will be better for the long run.

Aero is also attached to a svchost service that's 170MB, on top of dwm.exe which is a good 50MB.
