besides the fact that it is simply win, linux distributions are flexible, highly customizable, stable, programmer-oriented (opposed to end-user oriented), and they work the way you make them work, not how they decide to work.

very true I used to run Ubuntu the newest version x64 bit but x64 was way to uncombatible with stuff so I moved to the x32 it did some good
just remember if you get Ubuntu you have to know alot of stuff about it because installing drivers will be a bitch because you have to get drivers which are compatible so not the newest drivers will always work
WINE is a good application to let you run some of your windows applications I used it for a while but I needed to go back to XP to help out a friend hack some lame ass game plan on gonig back soon
