Fine, I'll put it in forum context.
Turritopsis Nutricula is a Jellyfish that, once it reaches maturity (basically the end of its life), it reverses its own aging process and begins to grow younger, until it's a anemone once more, then begins to age again.
Quote:
The ability to reverse the life cycle is probably unique in the animal kingdom, and allows the jellyfish to bypass death, rendering the Turritopsis nutricula effectively immortal.

Wow, how does that happen?
Can it do that forever?

Ok first of all, immortality in this article only refers to the process of reverse-aging.
The jellyfish itself can still be eaten up or ripped apart by a deep sea geyser.
Other than that it will not die of old age.

Cool never knew about that.

Couldn't scientists use that technique where they take a gene that triggers a specific function from one species and put it into another, for instance, us?

I don't think we are that advanced yet... lol

I THINK it is impossible to read what exactly a specific chromosome does... it has so much genetic data it is impossible to find specific functions
