I disagree, Tupac was a great rap artist and liek b4 he was a rap artist i think it was mentioned that he was a poet. Not only was he a musician but also an actor and many other shits such as a fucking gangster, so dont go blabbing ur mouth off about rap music, maybe the new generation of rap music (liek soulja boy, if that shit is even worth being called rap) compared to pioneer to liek 1990's rap.

Rap is crap. It doesn't require any talent. You talk. There is nothing special about that. People who play actual instruments have talent. Having some paid person add crap effects from a computer is not what I call music.

Well most rappers now think two things, 1) If I get shot and die I am Tupac, If I live I am 50 Cent. If they live they rap hell about it, they die, other people rap shit bout it. Thats the Rapper way.

original old school rap was about expressing your feelings, like tupac's raps about his mother.

present rap is about what people like to do, or what has the most hype. such as dancing, love, sex, and guns.

First of all some Rap music does require talent, of course there are different grades of rap ranging from purely commercial stuff to good song containing meaningful lyrics. The talent in Rap can lie in a few areas but in my opinion it comes from being able to keep a steady beat whilst continually speaking and also, seen predominantly in freestyle the ability to continually speak whilst rhyming, keeping rythm and making sense. For that you have to have an extensive vocaublary, quick thinking and being able to focus on what you are saying and where it is going at the same time. If you think rapping is so easy in general then I challenge you to make a steady beat and keep talking, in tune, in rythm, continuously while making sense and/or a story.

Some of my favourite lyrics are from rap music, they even played Lose Yourself ~ Eminem to the england rugby team before playing in the final because his lyrics go beyond his own experiences and ring true with anyone working to achieve a goal.

And yet I can see the flip side and agree that there is too much Rap being pumped out nowadays for commercial means relying on the riches, bitches and stitches forumla, but that isn't just limited to rap, all genres are flooded with talentless one hit wonders.

As for the idea of it being a bad influence, yes no doubt people have gone out and joined gangs, murdered someone, got involved with drugs. And subsequently blamed rap music. But the same has been done for GTA and Manhunt and many games in the past. Did you know the "you know when you've been tango'd" series has had alot of adverts banned because it "promoted violence" like;

I don't like any of this new crap. It's stupid.

Edit: I forgot to say that nowadays. It's all commercial. They make music that is going to sell. That's my many artists keep putting out songs about getting shot, getting bitches, etc. They think that's what people want to hear.
