I've just recently reinstalled windows xp pro black edition and i dont get any sound coming from my speakers

I've done the following

1. Installed realtek audio drivers
2. Installed motherboard chipset drivers
3. Plugged in and plugged out several times

i know my speakers arent faulty because my other comp has same OS and it doesnt work there either

In the run box, type, "soundman" to make sure the diagnostic service is running. In the tray you should see a speaker idea different to the windows one. Open it up if possible and see what it is reporting...

Also try checking in device manager to make sure you can see a "high definition audio bus" device. If not, you may well need a patch Wink

What Realtek sound chip do you have?
AC-97? or HDA?

You need a UAA patch from Microsoft in order to get your HD audio working.

I'm assuming this version of XP has some release of SP3 integrated. Certain releases had issues with some High Definition chipsets. Uninstall all current realtek drivers and follow this:

Let me know how it goes Wink
