Intel's Core 2 Quad Q6600 is one of the best quad cores ever made. Popularized by its overclocking potential and cheap price, it's a must grab for enthusiasts, overclockers, and PC builders, but with it being on EOL (End of Life), will the new Intel Core 2 Quad (Q8200) able to replace the quad everyone loved so much?

I was expecting this to be great and overclock like a bitch, seems Intel kinda took a step backwards with the Q8200 just to be "green"

Yes the new Q8300 is bullshit.
Buy the Q6600 when you can.
Also If you play games go for dualcore.

The low multiplier was a bad move.
At 400fsb, I'll be at 3000mhz on this compared to 3600mhz on a Q6600

With the benchmarking results mixed between the Q6600 and the Q8200 it depends on what you really want to use it for.
The Q6600 is indeed a excellent overclocker and price is cheap.
The Q8200 uses the 45nm process, High-K, and SSE4.1 to improve encoding like in the newest version of Divx.
Comparison between the Q6600 and Q8200
Q6600:
-2.40GHz
-1066FSB
-8MB L2 cache
-9x Multiplier
-65nm process
-Supports: EM64T, NX Disable bit, EIST, VT, and C1E
Q8200
-2.33GHz
-1333FSB
-4MB L2
-7x Multipler
-45nm process
-Supports: EM64T, NX Disable bit, EIST, and C1E
Both lack Intel TXT

Intel core i7 should be out very soon. 4 cores - 8 threads, 3-channel DDR3.
So if you're looking for your christmas upgrade, better wait.
