| My mom said i can have either an xbox360 (getting rockband for it) or a new desktop for christmas. Btw the must be under $800 and im not getting xbox live i dont think.

No point of getting an Xbox360 without Live, IMO.
Get a desktop if you can squeeze out an extra $200~$300

Live is cheap, only 50 bucks for a year. The Elite 360 is only 400 bucks, seeing that you can spend 800 bucks.. you could take 50 from that and get live for a year.

games are priced at like $50 each tho
better to go for a desktop, you can get games and surf teh internets more.

probably, computer. if your into a shooter, without live. you get really tired of games, which leads to getting tired of the xbox 360.
