VB 2008 is almost the same as VB6 since I used to use VB6.
I'm not sure if I should use VB or C++.

| Haha, stop telling him to do OpenGL. He's going to be 20 by the time he masters it.

If you want to do 2D, I wouldn't hesitate in choosing XNA and C#, or with VB if you must. It's really easy to do 2d games.
Step 1) Load content
Step 2)Draw
Step 3)Create Gameplay
If I can have a bit more info, I'd be interested in joining(I had a project like this but got a cease and desist from Nexon), I've had a year and a bit experience with XNA.

Well at the moment I'll use DirectDraw since I have no one to animate.

Do you have any idea the magnitude of a game project?
Rendering is one thing, doing it fast is another.
Then game logic...
AI...
Physics...
Collision...
Toolset for the creation of it...
The list goes on, and on...

You're completely right. I tried to make a simple game with DirectDraw. I got some simple gravity and so on, and I almost finished the rendering part, but got stuck on collision. Didn't even start with AI or some game logic etc.

No, but by Nintendo AND Nexon.
Guys, make your own whole NEW game, remakes are uninteresting.
Also don't code it in VB, jeez. If you want an easier language, choose C# with XNA.
