So, I've started to become sick of my banks policies. So I withdraw almost all of the money from my account, leaving about $60 for any charges that would go through within the next few days.
Okay, so a few days pass, all the charges go through, and I'm left with $7 in the account. 3 days later, I spend $5 at the gas station. I check my balance 2 days later and there's still 2 something in the account.
Okay, time to forget about that account right? Wrong. Some bullshit charge from Subway (who I hadn't bought anything from with my debit card in over a week) comes out of nowhere, and I'm overdrawn $0.28. Yep. 28 fucking cents. So I had no reason to check my bank account, but since I know they're looking to screw me any way they can, I open up my bank account page...
OH HAI! It seems you're overdrafted 28 cents from a charge that came out of nowhere. We'll just charge you $70 a day until you realize it and see you're fucked.
RAGE
So basically, I get to wake up early and go to the bank and try to settle this. Of course my direct deposit should have covered it until I get the chance to go bitch them out, but that magically decided not to appear in my account despite the fact that it should have came through 27 hours ago. Nevermind the "overdraft protection" the bitch rattled off about for 20 minutes while I made the account.
So since I keep all my receipts, I decide to go through them. Oh sure, the last charge from Subway was over a week ago. Now the charge always goes through overnight whenever I order there, but since I had almost nothing in the account, it takes over a week to go through. Just a bit suspicious.
Fuck this, I'm going back to paying with cash. |

My sister recently came back from America, and she was amazed at how commonly visa and debt cards are used there.
I would find a better bank and stick with paying in cash. _________________

Use a credit card and don't go over your credit limit.
That is the same reason I think credit card and debit card system is flawed. I think they should either put a cap on your credit limit so you don't accidentally overflow or they should make overdraft only available from the bank. It happened to me once with my credit card too. It's like the bank wants to trick you and get the instant 'fine' that comes with going over the limit/interest from charging past 0. |

Sticking with cash and not using credit cards/debit cards are a bad idea. One, credit cards are what is going to help you build credit ( go figure? ) so when you buy a house they will be like "hmm o i see, good credit... very nice"...
But yeah, you got owned. _________________

Better go to the bank and close the account. If not they charge service fees to for having to keep money on the records.
I ad this happen when i switched banks and left 7 dollars in the old account just in case i wanted to use that account.
Later i get a statment showing it was negative because of a damn service fee.
So in actuality. You could put 1 million in checking account at the bank and not touch it. They will gradually take money from it for fees. Then one day, you wont have any damn money at all in the account. |

putting £1,000,000 into an account would let you live a decent life and still have £1,000,000 in that account when you died
the bank pays interest on your money and it's only small percents but with big money it's still alot _________________

You should use Debit Cards because that way a person can only
pay with what he has on his account. Nothing more. _________________
