This one sucks, to expensive and you don't gain so much at it.
If it would be supported 100% it would be better.
But not even ONE quad is good supported.
Also this is old news have been out there a long long time.
And yes mac also got it 2 months later tho.
Regards Humper

I have a dual 771 board here. Never bothered to use it because:
1. I don't even fully utilize my OC'd dual core
2. FBDIMMs are slow, especially for gaming.

My friends dedicated server has dual quad-cores. Socket 771... If they ever make dual socket 775, that would be godly!

Intel's SkullTrial was the answer to AMD's 4x4. It uses server type processors and FB-DIMMS which is not the ideal type of platform for gaming. CPUs cost around $1600 each (Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9775)
and ram won't let you get off at least paying $200.
I've build a syste like that once and when trying to benchmark Crysis the system would crash. :\
System specs was:
2x Intel Xeon @ 3GHz each (quad core) socket 771/1333FSB/12MB L2
8GB of FB-DIMM (DDR2 800Mhz)
2x500GB HDD
8800GTX
XP Pro x64
As for dual 775 that won't be likely as 775 are only SP instead of DP or MP.
SP=Single processor support
DP=Dual
MP=Multi

If the technology for having 2 CPU's has started, shouldn't in a month or so all new motherboards have this feature?

They have hundreds of dual socket boards on newegg. If you havn't seen them, browse around more than just to the normal spots [Akwardly worded].

No, since it is mostly only for servers, and no one else would need it except servers.

The technology has been around since the Pentium Pro days. However, due to the complicated designs and amount of layers required in the PCB, they'll never be mainstream. They're simply too expensive to produce.

The topic is about the 775 socket that is not for server tho,
it doesn't give enought advantage to spend so much money and maybe even get less power.
