The reason they are doing this is because in 1990 the Democrats made the "Community Reinvestment Act" to make all the banks give loans to people who could not pay the loans back. Because they couldn't pay them back the banks lost lots and lots of money and the loans the banks received from other people could not be paid back resulting in the people who were willing to loan the banks money didn't want to anymore so many banks crashed. Because of the disaster, the Democrats are trying to make the government pay all that money back (they caused the problem in the first place) making us even more in dept.
