Hey guys, I am a COMPLETE noob when it comes to graphics cards and I have no clue of what anything means about them and such. So, with that being said, I am getting a new laptop, a Lenovo SL400. Its a brand that combined with ibm a while back and lenovo has started to make better models already. Don't try to change my mind to another brand i already know im getting this brand and this model because in my opinion it is the best computer company with great solid laptops, warrantys, and help service (they even have an online chat with random ppl who work there and they are actually good)

Anyways sorry for all that I an known to mumble on...

2 CHOICES:

Get the SL400 with:

1. Integrated graphics that says --> Intel GMA X4500

2. Descrete graphics that says --> NVIDIA GeForce 9300M 256MB for $120 more

im getting my next paycheck this friday and if i chose the first one ill have enough but if i chose the second option ill have to wait another 2 weeks.

mind u guys that on the new laptop i will start playing lots of mmorpg's like maple and DIABLO 3 (when it comes out in like 3 years Razz) but ya........would integrated be good enough? or get the better graphics?

THANKS IN ADVANCE PLEASE I NEED EXPERIENCED PPLS HELP

The thinkpads just say thinkpad on the logo and not ibm and there's a lenovo logo also on the laptops on a different place. Yes i for some reason know a lout about it

Lenovo's are top-notch when it comes to price to performance. You really get what you pay for plus a little bit more. If you always have the choice to, go for a independent graphics card. Integrated aren't that good because it's that and that and will only work for that age. Graphics card can pull for a lil longer, plus can be upgradable.

Lenovo bought IBM's desktop division and got the rights to use the name "ThinkPad". IBM still exist, they mostly deal with the corporate customers and sell workstations and servers.

As for the laptop, I'll rather go with the discrete because of dedicated graphics ram, but I'll rather pick a more powerful one.

Integrated Graphics are crap. GMA X4500 will allow you to play all 2005 and earlier games with ~20 FPS. The 9300M also sucks, but it can play around all DX9 games on medium with ~30 FPS. I really don't think you'll be able to play Diablo 3 with 9300M.

According to Nvidia, the x300 are for people who don't do many graphic intensive things. If you really like Lenovo, just know their laptops aren't for gaming. They bought IBM, which makes computers for corporate use.
