I'm re-installing vista again and want to make a backup of my files (using a DVD-R). Every time I tried to open my backup files on a reinstalled vista, it comes up with errors. Any GOOD software that will make a backup of files?

Ghost is a bit overkill for just backing up files, i just use the windows default program and save mostly pictures and junk to a network drive

What I do is change the default location for where I want to save my files at.
Folders like My Documents, Pictures, Music, Downloads, etc can be relocated to the 2nd partition or 2nd hard drive. Once you relocated it every time you save a file in one of those folders then it'll be automatically placed to the 2nd drive.

why do you want to use the windows backup feature? can't you just manually copy what you want onto a dvd or usb?

norton partition magic. Create a partition then drag everything to that partition and reformat your main drive

I've always simply copied my files to a external...
Saves me the hassle of unencypting or what ever it does....
Also everything is stored in one location, not on 50 discs.....
