well i've tried OCing my Q6600 to 3Ghz and the PC doesn't even start it just reboots twice then starts up on normal 2.4Ghz
when i try to do it with the gigabyte easytune5 my PC crashes too
my board is apparently very OCable so what's the prob?
also does anyone know how to stop the popup in the bottom right corner telling me UAC is turned off?

Have you tried overclocking to a lower speed, take it little by little at a time?
Cause overclocking to a very high speed without proper cooling can damage your processor.

Exact specifications? Also, don't do software overclocking, it's best done in the BIOS.
You might want to try these things (in order of what to do first):
Lock the PCI-e frequency to 100MHz
Loosen the RAM latency/timings
Add voltage to the MCH/Northbridge (to avoid FSB bandwidth limits)
Add voltage to the CPU
As for UAC, I haven't run into that problem after disabling it in Control Panel. It might be because I'm using Ultimate.

Motherboard? That was what I was specifically looking for.
Explain what you're doing. Everything you're doing in the BIOS.
Just a note, 850W is almost 2x more than you need - even if you overclock.

sorry, gigabyte 965P-DS3
the box claims it's very OCable
in BIOS i tried setting FSB to 333 and voltage up to 1.35 didn't try anything with the RAM timings etc.
850W PSU was delivered instead of the 650W i ordered as they had ran out of stock it's a decent heavy 1 with 2 fans on
EDIT: I think I'm going to try updating my BIOS after loads of google searching i think this COULD be my problem
EDIT2: WOOOT i finally OC'ed the bugger! i'm at 3.02Ghz now
but i'm idling at 50-60C i think i'm gonna go down in voltage and try again
EDIT3: best i can get (idle) at 3.02Ghz is 45-50 on stock voltage what is the highest safe temp i should take it? i don't want it to burn out/fail on me
66C was highest it got to after 10-15mins under heavy load with prime95

What the fuck is going on with your 12v rails?
Go see what the BIOS has to say about that.
and what is with that voltage? What do you have it set at in the BIOS?
