I saw a 500 gig sata hard drive on newegg.com for about 70 bucks lol

Dollars, FFS.
Read what he said again. 1TB=1024GB.
What else would that number be if he already gave you the capacity?

If you are able to survive with a 70GB HD I'd say you should get a 250/320Gb one
