torrent files are like 1kb in size

A torrent is just like, well .. A link to a download .. Like copy/pasta mediafire.com or alike .. So you should be very able to have torrents on your iPod .. The other problem might be WHAT you download from the torrent. (If it's the full Naruto serie or whatever, it might take too much space)

I don't fully understand torrents, Yes. But once they've finished downloading, they can be opened with a Media Player, can you drag those into your Itunes Library?

no. the files that the torrent points to CAN be opened in a media player if they are media. torrent file != file pointed to by it.
