This is what I have and I listen to most of it. Almost all of it is around the rock/alternative section. I'm not going into and smaller subjects. I'm too lazy.
1. My Chemical Romance
Try hearing it before you say "ew"
2.The Offspring
Known for some of their older songs. I really like their new album. It's very different then all their other songs.
New album: Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace
3. Panic! At The Disco
Good songs. For some reason, this reminds me of preppy people but that always happens. Known for their Vegas stuff.
4. Rise Against
Hmm I don't really listen to it but I got it for a reason. It's pretty good.
5. Saosin
Good. Kinda screamo, but good. Good good.
6. Slayer
I got it recently. Didn't listen to much but it's good.
7. The Smashing Pumpkins
very good. goodie goodie goodie.
8. Tiger Army
Different. One Vocal/Guitarist, One Drummer, and one STRING Bass. The music is very good too. 
9. weezer
Pretty good. Kinda funky but some of their songs are well known.
10. Muse
Good Music. Rock injected with some classical instruments (piano mostly)
11. MGMT
Electric Alternative Indie. nice and unique. Try it out.
12. Ludo
Kind of good. Got the album for their popular song.
13. Linkin Park
Used to listen to it a lot. It has a very good melody and I feel like every song is a hit. Very good. quick time line:
first, it was rock
second, it was rap
third, it was alternative.
14. Korn
Funky music. Kinda weird (really)
15. Hawthorne Heights
goodie mc goodie goods burg. It's good. (really good. try it out)
16. Fall Out Boy
really weird but it's nice.
17. Blue October
Emo people, but it's pretty good. You need to hear it to feel the melody 
18. Billy Talent
Very good band. Nice melody and stuff. Very good. It's WONDERFUL! lol try it out.
19. Bad Religion
Goodie. Try it out. Known for some of their songs
20. Avenged Sevenfold
Very very good band. Their newer songs are more alternative, but their older songs are much more metal. For the more metal songs, you need to hear before you say no. It's very good.
21. Audio Slave
okay band.
22.Atreyu
I like their new album.
23. AFI
all time favorite. go for it.
24. ATB
It's actually a DJ from Europe i think, but all of the lyrics are in English. Very good.
25. Groove Coverage
It's good. I'm not sure if it's one person or a band but it's from Europe. It's techno/trance. try it out
