Cheat Engine

I want to use C++ to create a menu that controls hacks in game but i know that most games auto detect overlays in their games so i thought of this lets say the game i want to hack is Call of duty 4 and lets say i have it on steam. which means i have the steam overlay can i inject the hacks into cod4, and the menu into the steam overlay which is the process called "GameOverlayUI.exe" can i do this or am i in a dream world.

Also could someone piont me to a good tut that explains how to get address to work in C++ cuz i know it isn't tthe numbers and letters you see in Cheat Engine.

yes i know i have a shit post count i just got back from holidays and joined CE fourms a little while ago. so do you have any idea how one would go about this or at least a place with some where to start i have no idea what to do
