Core i7 is a completely different architecture, in this case, Intel Nehalem. Kind of like the jump from Pentium 4 to the Core 2 Duo. It uses a different, larger socket.

Yes, i know it is a different architecture, but what will i see from the switch from Core 2 to i7?
Besides a different socket.

Yeah, but i think no one will buy the oct-core since of the price. I might for my servers though , but srsly, id stick with the dual and quad core i7s.

didn't know they were making them, i thought they would be continuing the core 2 series aswel
the price will probably be ridiculous on those things anyway for a long time
my Q6600 arrived today <3 just need to wait for the other bits now then i'll have a decent PC
