Yeah I think so. Why would there be compatibility issues?

I wasn't aware ATI products could 'SLi'.
Crossfire. And, no. You're fine.

No there are other types. Asus, Gigabyte, MSI.

I'm pretty sure most every Intel chipset motherboard with dual PCI-e slots (don't think any other interface allows for CrossFire) supports CrossFire.
This is the cheapest one I recommend. There are better ones, but this one is one of the cheapest of my picks. Take Ajax's advice on motherboard manufacturer.
AFAIK, you're limited to Intel X38, X48, P35, and P45 chipsets.

Cheetah and slovach correct me all the time
I don't know how much an 8x PCI-e 2.0 slot would fair against a PCI-e 2.0 x16 slot, but considering the bandwidth of a regular PCI-e x16 is equal to a PCI-e 2.0 x8 slot, you should be just fine. Gigabyte mobos are worth a try (this and this). You might want to look at the P5Q-E. I can't tell why it's worth $20 more than the P5Q Pro, other than supporting twice the amount of RAM. But I think by the time you'll be using more than 8GB of RAM, you would have moved on to another computer.
If you're looking for an X38 board, it's going to raise the prices up a bit. I'm not sure how well the cheapest ones are (DFI LanParty), although I've heard that they're a reputable company.

okay, thanks. could i get a reccomendation on a good 750 watt powersupply? all the ones that i can find have serious drawbacks.
i will be doing overclocking on it.
and do you know why a video card driver install would make opengl go awry? the problem that i think is what i have in thgat thread is that opengl wont work now.
