|
|
So im trying to hack Assassin's Creed. While testing things out I noticed that the address which held the amount of throwing stars changed from time to time. The tutorial said that this was one of those times I'd have to use pointers, so I tried to find the pointer of the address, but when searching for the it using the value suggested by the CE i found nothing, leaving me a little confused. What could be the reason the search doesnt return any results?

What does the instruction at the address you found look like?
ie: something like
0044BADB MOV DWORD PTR DS:[EAX+168],ECX
Attach your game to ollydbg and go to your address. In the example above to find the pointer you would need to find out what sets EAX. Scroll up from the function and try to find something like:
MOV EAX,DWORD PTR DS:[A92D38]
In this case your pointer should be A92D38 + 168.
if you still can't find it take a look at this tutorial and it should help you out a lot. It is written for International Silkroad Online but it should help in the general purpose of searching out the Base Pointer.

Thats a good question actually, I had no idea since I don't have or plan on getting vista, But a quick google search and I found the same question on another board:
| Quote: | Hi,
For what i know, OllyDbg 32-bit should work good in Vista, if there are problems you can enable Win Xp Compatibility
Have a nice day |
AND:
| Quote: | | Yes OllyDbg 1.10 is working fine on Vista 32bits, and so is planned OllyDbg 2.0 but i don't know much about 64bits, look at woodmann.com's official ollydbg thread. |
