OK, so I heard from some dude that hacking Guild Wars by like packet editing is highly illegal and you would face prison time if caught.
So now I'm wondering what games I can hack.
If I cheat for the highscore on a game (say ThingThing Arena 2) and they somehow find out would that get me in trouble? (I'm thinking that that wouldnt be possible but I'm just wondering because no one likes the authorities against them)
If I cheated on Wolfenstein Enemy Territory would I get in trouble?
What about WoW or City of Heroes?
If I don't get in trouble for hacking those 4 games then can someone explain why I would get in trouble for hacking Guild Wars
Yes I know I asked about client AND server sided games

Most cheating is done by editing your own(PCs) memory. That is not illegal. However, sending packets to a server is in a very gray area as you have now crosed the line into editing memory on someone elses system. As long as what you do doesn't cause problems to the game server(crashes, etc), or other users(kicks from game, etc) then you are not likely to be arrested or have any authorities after you.
