I have someone doing it for me, so I don't really NEED to know what these things do, but I'm rather curious.

What is a RIG POWER, and what does it do?

Is it better/necessary to have 2 hard drives and 2 video cards?

What is an OPTICAL DRIVE, and what does it do?

no you only need 1 hard drive and 1 video card the amount of preformance boost you get in SLI(2 video cards) isnt worth the money its more for show

and an optical drive is a dvd burner, cd burner etc etc

Another thing, can I just take out the CD drives (dunno what they're called, the thing that opens up and you put a CD in it) from my old computer and use those?

yes but i recommend you use a new DVD drive if all you have is a cd drive I STRONGLY recommend getting a dvd drive

I have a CD and dvd drive, both burnable.
Are there any other parts I can scavenge from this crappy computer that are unnecessary to upgrade?

that is up to you but everything else with the exception of mouse keybored and mointer i recommend changing
