Anyone have a good build that can play most valve games(CS:S, TF2, Portal, etc) and is around $200 with links from newegg/amazon?

Do you need an operating system? If you do, then you'll have a hard time getting the final price to work out.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.4GHz - $57
Motherboard: ECS NFORCE6M-A - $40
RAM: Corsair XMS2 DDR2-675 - $21
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar SE 160GB 7200RPM SATA - $45
Optical Drive: Lite-On DVD Burner - $24
Power Supply: Antec Basiq 350W - $20

Subtotal: $207

Meh, I was close. You still have to add in tax and shipping, but you can downgrade the processor to a single core. Also, if you bought RAM elsewhere, it could cost only $10 for 1GB. A case isn't included.

You're better off just upgrading your existing PC.

Onboard graphics.

And where is said port?

Quote:
Pros: For a cheap motherboard this is top of the line, when I got this motherboard i was very pleased! It booted up perfectly, in great condition, also to top it all off it is a purple motherboard!!! Oh one more thing this motherboard is great for gamers because you have such a option to the upgrade prosesser as well as the ram... In conclusion GET THIS BOARD!
Cons: One, there is no onboard VGA port so you are going to need a graphics card because you cant plug in a monitor! But if you have a graphics card you are in good shape!
Other Thoughts: N/A

Yes, but my brother somehow managed to put together a new computer with borrowing only RAM and HDD. with $200.
And Bam! Resize your avatar please it's stretching the forum.
And onboard graphics aren't enough to handle Portal or any other games.

And my current mobo is crappy as hell. It has no slots for PCI-E or anything usefull.

Lemme say what it is I need:

  • A SATA/DDR2 ~2.0 GHz Motherboard that has atleast 1 PCI-E Slot.
  • Processor that is compatible with the motherboard w/ everything needed for it.
  • A case that can fit everything in

I guess you're right. Upon further inspection, I noticed it only had 9 pins.

You can switch it for this at the same price, or this, with an ATi Radeon 3200.

The Foxconn motherboard with the Radeon 3200 (780V chipset) is probably the best, but it's $10 more.

It simply can't be done at that price point, just save up some more. If you take superweapon's system and throw in a 3850 that will set you at around $330, and that's about the cheapest you'll be able to game decently on.

I can save up more, I am just looking for one that can run Portal/TF2/CS:S.

I'll take the cheapest one.
