I don't quite see how ownership of the game reflects on my ability to lock threads with people going "LOLOLOL!!" and the such. I am also getting the game soon ^^;

Mods don't need experience at a game.
In fact, I think it's better if you mod a section of a game you don't play. That way you won't get caught in all the game debates and drama.
