I believe in god, But i don't believe in the BS that is shoved down people's throat today.

For example, now a days many churches try to portray that if we don't go to church every Sunday, we'll go to Hell. And that if we don't add to the collection plate, we'll go to hell. Not to mention that church now has become nothing more than a social status to most people. However, in the bible (Christian) It clearly states that your family is to come before the collection, the tithe, and the congregation.

Secondly, most of these so called "churches" are run by incompetent idiots
who only formed the 'church' to gain money, and avoid taxation.
Thirdly, a lot of people who claim to be religious run around throwing out 'god bless you' and 'blessed' like its candy to orphan children. I just find it funny, that NOT ONE of Jesus' disciples did this when Jesus was around. So now we have people that thing they are holy as God.

Lastly, I am almost ashamed to call myself a Christian by today's standards. Because, I would never go and tell a homosexual couple that they are going to hell. That is going against everything the bible is about. Also, I would never try and coerce a Atheist, Catholic, Jew, etc. into my religion.

Reason being, who am I to tell someone what to do with their life? they are living their own religion, and their own life(and yes Atheism is a religion). Therefore, by doing any of these things, how could i claim myself a Christian. I haven't been to church in at least 10 years, and I haven't prayed to God in at least 3 years. Does that make me any lesser of a Christian. By todays standards it does, but not by the original bible.

On a last note, I sometimes believe the reason a majority of people don't follow a certain religion is because they see idiotic Zealots like the Westborough baptist group and other morons like that that run around damning everyone like they have some predestined right to do so. Hell if I wasn't religious, and I had someone like that confront me about religion, I think I'd rather be a Atheist than a raving lunatic like some of these people out there.

On a last note, I believe religion goes wrong when people start reading the parables and try to put them into real-life. The stories in the bible are there to show examples of things that we do, and how we shouldn't do them, and the consequences of doing said things. Not all of the stories are
parables, but most of them are(i.e. the crucifixion of Christ). The best way to read the parables in the bible, is to read them just as you would your favorite Buddha teaching, or fiction novel.

In conclusion, Yes I do believe in god. But not in those leading my religion.
