i keep getting this error with my steam hl1, and i need to know how to fix it. i restarted steam and it still shows up.
and no answers from non-steamers this time...

no message... i bought the game but it says pre-load complete instead of 100%-ready, and it prompts me to re buy the game.

It means you didn't buy Half Life - you bought a package which doesn't include Half Life

As I said, you either aren't on your Half-life account, or you didn't buy it. (You might have bought the wrong package?)
