Sorry to tell you, but you'll need to spend at least 500 USD for an average computer, more for a gaming.

Thanks for the correction golden.

CoD4 will be the squeeze out of all them.
Hmm... 250gbp would do it...it would be a push..but what you could save on CPU/memory you could use to up the graphics card a little...

Considering the recent drop in video card prices, and the already ridiculously low CPU and memory prices, you should be able to make something decent.

I might whip up something today if I have time, but do you need an OS included in the price?

Format is like:

Motherboard: Foxconn P9657AB-8EKRS2H $67.58
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128078
subtotal: $67.58
Yeah, it's cheap, but it works. Please note, I changed the Mobo at the last second, so all the lower subtotals are about $1 off.

Case: Rosewill R6A34-BK $49.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147041
subtotal: $117.57
Good case. Highly rated.

Memory: WINTEC AMPO (2 x 1GB) 667MHz $38.98
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161677
subtotal: $156.55
Cheap as hell, great ratings.

CPU: Intel E4500 Allendale 2.2GHz $119.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115031
subtotal: $276.54
It's kind of slow, but you could probably overclock it to like 2.8GHz.

HDD: WD Caviar 160GB $55.29
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136075
subtotal: $331.83
Isn't the best, but who the hell needs more than 160 gigs, anyway?

GPU: EVGA 8600GTS 256MB $136.99 - $96.99 after mail-in rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130084
subtotal: $428.82
It'll run most things at low settings. Will be as best you can afford till you have $800-1200 for a higher end computer.

Disk drive: Generic Samsung DVD burner $29.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151161
subtotal: $458.81
Kinda sucks, but whatever.

PSU: APEVIA 500W PSU $39.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817148027
500W is plenty.

Grand total: $498.80
It's $538.80 without the mail-in rebate, but, hey, what the hell. What'll an extra $40 hurt?

It should all fit together fine. It's about as good as you can get for $500.

I save all the builds I make for people in an rtf. It just so happens I had one for $500.[/quote]

Crap. Forgot about that bit.

You know, there are package forwarding services. (ie. you tell newegg to send the parts there, then they send them to you, generally overseas, but it costs a bit)

You can make a case out of plexiglass and pick up a hard drive at any local computer store. That's not a big deal.
