How do I go about creating a cheat that gives the player a weapon that he has not yet found in the game? (like IDFA, IMPULSE 9, GIVE WEAPONS etc.)

Thats different in each game. But usually the game holds somewhere a bit if the player has that weapon or not. And if you set that bnit to true the game will think youu have that weapon.

e.g some games store it like:
hasweapon1,ammo1,hasweapon2,ammo2,hasweapon3,ammo3, etc....

and other games like:
hasweapon1,hasweapons2,hasweapon3,...,ammo1,ammo2,ammo3,...

and some other games even have:
weapon1, belongs to player1,player2,player4,...
weapon2, belongs to player3,player5, etc...

So you'll have to experiment a little yourself, but scanning for it is hard, because loading a saved game may change pointers, and I really do not recommend scanning for the value 0. (especially not a binary scan for value 0)
But with luck you'll figure it out.

ive goten this to work with some games, and not with other
normaly what i do is, search for unknown, get the weapon, search changed,
drop it, search changed, search unchanged, pick it up, search change.
well you get the idea. it might take a while, but its a fastest way i know of
