Hoho... E8400 can overclock like hell even when using air cooling. It's temperature is very very low.

Q6600, no contest. Buying a dual at this point is useless, you may gain a bit of CPU power in games, which are very rarely bottlenecked by the CPU anyway, or you can have better multi-tasking, and better performance in some modern games and far more down the road.

Totally agree with you. Dual cores is for now (gaming, and everything else); quad cores are for the future (multi-threaded games will become more popular later on). Right now, I don't think it's a good time to buy anything, if you're that budget builder, by the time you buy the system, it'll be outdated. Intel will be adding a 6-core CPU later this year (at least from where I heard).

Intel will be releasing Nehalem by end of this year Wink 32nm processors ~.~

of ur going to get good cpu go get 3.0ghz 4gb ram intel core quad dual core etc... thats perfect...just get loads of rams

and i got the E8400, its hell good for the price and you can overclock it to like 3.5-3.6 on air cooling, so get that, and in a couple years consider getting a quad
