i have 512mb ram
i didnt like how slow it was goin with all the app i was running
so i bought 1gb ram and went home and put it in
after i fitted it i tried to turn on the comp and it wouldn't start or even turn on
i thought i broke my computer but then 10 min l8er i decided to remove it and my pc turned on. (ive returned the ram)
should i get new comp?
plz help

| He probabably didn't, he thought, oh this ones cheaper, time to get it. Check in your computer manual or online for what kind of ram you should have.

What type of ram you got? DDR? DDR2? PC5400?
You did put the wrong one in

Did you take out the 512 one? Try just the 1gb.

1) run a scan at www.crucial.com to see if you bought the right type of RAM.
2) make sure you put it in right
3) buy the RAM crucial gives you after running a scan, and than put that ram in, and see if your comp works now.

I highly doubt any motherboard not 7+ years old can't handle 1GB RAM.
