Well my classmates in school says that Vista sucks because it's lagging. But a guy who built my computer (we're getting it today) says vista is ery great and that XP is horrible. So... is Vista lagging and is it full of bugs or is Vista recommended?

Vista a very inefficient OS. Basically a shiny, idiot proof version of XP, throw in some bloat, you have Vista.
Unless you have a specific need for it, I'd stick to XP. |

I would suggest going with an open source alternative called Linux, and if you really want that vista areo you might want to check this you tube of linux with Beryl/Compiz Fusion and the system requirements are even lower than vista.

I'm pretty sure his question was if VISTA was laggy or not... I didn't see him mention Linux not once... did he?

I wouldnt say its laggy, i once too thought Vista was a piece of crap until my dad got it with his new pc and we had no choice but to stick with it..
1Gb of ram, you wont lag.. Heck my dads celeron is 1.6ghz and it runs smooth..
I preferred XP but i cant format it since the new computers just wont let you..
Its actually not that bad
