| I am thinking about upgrading the CPU for my laptop and I was just wondering if anybody here has ever had any success doing this by themself or if I should just go ahead and pay someone to do it.

Most Laptops you can't change their CPUs.

You usually can, but it's not an easy thing to do, and you may not even be able to get a much better chip for your socket.
If you're not experienced with laptops definitely have a professional do it.

Depending on the laptop, most are soldered to the board so getting it swapped out is very expensive.
You definitely cant do it yourself.

I've fixed quite a few laptops and every one I've seen was socketed.

Quick tips before you do this upgrading....
1. make sure its not expensive upgrading then buying a whole new laptop
2. thats all

Adding to that one more thing:
3. If you don't need your soon to be replaced computer, see if you can sell it to help cover the expenses of the new computer.
Then again, if you keep the one you have now, you can use it to screw around with stuff, especially since you wouldn't really care too much about it since you have the newer computer anyways.
