The -4 is not being squared, only the 4 is due to the lack of brackets.

-4^2
=-4*4
=-16

lol the definition if being squared is: a number times itself therefore -4 * -4 =16 thats the exception to square thats why there is imaginary number if the rule im mention above does not exist then there is no imaginary number, and if you know what is imaginary number is then go the wiki
